Tavia grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Harding University with a bachelor's degree in communication disorders. She met and married her husband Mike and moved to San Diego where they started a family. While in San Diego, she worked alongside her husband running a snack food manufacturing business for ten years. This is where Tavia's homeschooling journey began. She has been homeschooling for more than 20 years and has graduated two of her children and now has a senior and an 8th grader at home. Ten years ago, Tavia and her family moved to Arizona.

Tavia has experience with all grades from being a substitute teacher and long-term sub for over five years. This experience has helped her encourage and help families on their own homeschooling journeys. Tavia has been the assistant musical director for MoezArt Productions for two years and has loved being able to walk with many junior high and high school children as they learn and discover their God-given talents. Tavia enjoys being outside and riding ATVs, reading and, most of all, playing with her grandson! Tavia is excited to partner with homeschool families and to be a part of the Ignite team this year!
